A Word document you file or send carries nothing in its file properties that names who or what produced it, or where it came from in your workspace. Bringing a returned copy back so the assistant can pick up your edits still works.
Your firm can name delivered files with the document first and the filing it belongs to after it, as in "2026_10_08_Declaration_of_Maria_Lopez_Motion_for_Default_Judgment".
When a PDF cannot print one of your firm's typefaces, such as a letterhead font, the assistant tells you which part of the document prints in a standard font instead. The Word copy is unaffected.
Your firm can name all of its court forms with one rule, including by form number, as in "2026.10.12 - Doe - PLD-PI-001 (draft)", with the filing copy named apart from the draft.

A PDF with exhibits or an appendix attached is bookmarked: the brief's own headings, then one bookmark for each attachment, named the way its cover sheet names it ("Exhibit C: Lease Renewal"). The PDF opens with its bookmarks showing.

DocketDrafter can leave you notes in your workspace about choices it made for you and about new features, and the assistant tells you when one is waiting and reads it to you only when you ask. You can keep each choice or have it changed.
You can leave notes for colleagues at your firm the same way, and ask for their answer back.

Court forms come in two copies: a fillable copy to review and a flattened copy to file, with every answer printed into the page and the form's on-screen buttons removed.
A court form can carry the signing attorney's signature, when your firm has said who signs.
An answer too long for its box on a court form can print smaller instead of being cut off, when you or your firm say so. It never prints smaller than the form's own minimum.

Ask for a PDF and the assistant can deliver any Word document as a PDF instead, including a Word file you brought into the case.

DocketDrafter now works in Claude Code, Anthropic's terminal assistant, alongside Claude.
Finished documents are saved into the folder you are working in when you use Claude Code, and the assistant tells you the filename when it hands one over.

Initial release of DocketDrafter for Claude.
Draft and revise court-formatted legal filings (answers, motions, and similar documents) from a conversation.
Each finished document is delivered as a court-formatted Word (.docx) for you to open and review, named the way your firm names files.
The caption, continuous paragraph numbering, and signature block are formatted for you.
The assistant can share a problem with DocketDrafter to help improve the product when a result comes out wrong or something is missing, and tells you when it relays something you raised.
